SMS Demag AG has put into operation the new single-strand slab caster No. 3 at Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH (SZFG), both Germany. Slabs of thickness 250 mm and widths of 850 to 2100 mm are produced on caster No. 3, rising Salzgitter’s annual capacity to approx. 4.7 million tonnes of slabs.

The SMS Demag AG supply scope comprised the mechanical equipment, the basic electrical and automation systems, the erection and progress supervision and the commissioning.
