Lenzing Technik's Wire Marking Machine WMM

Posted on Thursday September 22, 2005 in

Wire Marking Machines mark the surface of hot steel products like slabs, blooms or billets by smelting two aluminium wires filled with aluminium oxide. Smelting energy is supplied by high amperage short circuit currents.

The powder mixture gets blown at the hot product surface, combines with the hot steel and congeals immediately. Wire marking machines produce a durable marking image, which is abrasion proof and resistant to long term storage.

The marking characters are produced by combined vertical and horizontal movements of the arc-spray pistol mimicing pen strokes.

Advantages

  • ease of use
  • abrasion-proof persistent marking
  • eliminates the necessity of regular cleaning of the paint tubes after a downtime
  • bigger wire reels enable longer marking times
  • no need for long material transport tubes
